The cheek pieces of the bridle attach to the small loops at the top of the cheek piece and not onto the large ring and the reins fasten conventionally onto the main ring of the bit. As the reins are used the nutcracker action squeezes the tongue between the two branches of the mouthpiece and squashes the face between the two cheeks of the Bit.
